Twenty-10

Charles Osgood of CBS Sunday Morning has consistently used the prefix "20" when talking about the year. I'm not sure what he said in 2000, but I did hear him explain why he says "Twenty-0-1, etc." I think his explanation makes sense, but I have only been able to say "Two thousand nine" like almost everybody else up to this point. I think I'm ready, though, to switch over this year. I've been practicing and I think I've got it now to say Twenty-10 for this year.

So Happy 2010, Everybody! (Did you say it in your head when you read that "my" way or the more popular "two thousand" way?) It's completely up to the individual, of course. I was just letting everybody know my preference.

I won't be around to worry about it, but I wonder what will happen in, say, 2101. Will some people say, "two thousand one-0-1"? Or will it be "twenty one-0-1"? Y'all let me know! haha!

Happy New Year...and New Decade, Everybody!

PS You may have noticed that I am taking yet another break from Facebook. Maybe I'll be able to bring the Family Blog back to life with the "extra" time I have from not Facebooking. I think I've almost decided that my social network is already big enough with just our family and a few close friends. I don't need to know when my former students are doing their laundry...haha!

I'm also trying to use Twitter again...takes less time but I don't have many "followers" or people "following" me, so I might stop that too. If you're interested in brief updates about my whereabouts, you can check out my Tweets at jcbrocious.

Hope you all have a great day and a wonderful weekend! If you are reading this, consider CONTRIBUTING to the blog.
