Adam Kempf

This is going to be a short post, but I wanted to let my family know that the student that was killed while trying to board the bus Wednesday morning in Coats, NC, was a student at my school.  He was a 7th grader, I teach 8th.  My interaction with Adam came last year as I spent the last few weeks of school as a substitute teacher.  In a very difficult classroom, Adam was always the one just reading.  He loved to read and he loved to write.  He will be missed.

This tragedy comes only a few short weeks after we lost a 6th grade teacher.  The students in my school have been through so much this year, and I ask that you keep them in your thoughts.

Kelly, this is such a sad tragedy...for you personally and professionally...and for your school community, which has already suffered far more than they should have in the last six months.

I am so sorry for this loss of precious human life.

Thank you for sharing with your family in a meaningful way.

May we all be reminded of how precious and fleeting life can be.
