It appears that I have been remiss (again) in passing on family news in a timely manner. Sometimes I even THINK I've passed on relevant news and later find out that I haven't. Other times, I tell half of the people I need to tell half of the stuff I need to tell them. In any case, it seems to me that blogging is the easiest and fastest way to revive the old Family Newsletter. If I post the news just once, it will be your fault if you don't check the blog occasionally to see what's going on. Maybe that way I won't overlook telling people.
Everybody in the family has now been informed of the most recent news up to today. So I'm not going to repeat even the recent past news. Rather, I'm going to try to start with tomorrow and I'll try to post every day or so. If you want to know what's going on AND if you want to post your own news, you need to check the Family Blog frequently. INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW. If I do keep this going for a couple of weeks and nobody reads/posts, I'll erase the blog. On the other hand, we might just get a thing going on.
I will keep you posted as I can about Jill and Bryan's news and events as they enfold.
Okay, tomorrow is the first day of school for Kelly (Wake Tech), Holly, and Hilary. Friday is the first day that Shannon reports to her new job at Flat Rock Middle School.
I'm not sure when Justice's first day of kindergarten is, but it's coming up soon.
I started work today, but my classes don't start until next Thursday. I have signed a contract with NC State for considerable work this year beyond my three classes. Several of you have asked why I am doing this. The answers are simple: I WANT to and they are paying me pretty well to do work that I like to do.
Jay, Shannon, Justice, and Savannah are in the process (maybe finished by now) of moving into their own home...much larger with a yard for Jay to landscape. Jay, too, will be starting a new job at the end of the month. I will leave it to them to give further details and maybe even post some pictures.
Erin and Lee's baby is gaining weight and seems to be progressing nicely.
Jodi and Courtney have been coming over on Tuesday nights for supper and playing cards. Hope we can continue with that plan. Last night, we had tacos and played Rook. Last week it was hamburgers and Canasta.
Kelly and her friend Susan have been on several trips to the beach and a trip to the mountains this summer. They also went to the Kenny Chesney Concert a couple of weeks ago. I'm green...I think his tractor's sexy...and I like Sugarland.
Brad's family has new camping equipment and Brad has a new Trio that he's trying to learn to operate. I guess he'll be consulting Jen and Jill on how to operate it, as they have Trios too.
Dad and I are going to the lake this weekend, and Brad may come with the children to try out camping if there's any relief in the heat. We have to come home early for a "Gallery Event" honoring Kelly Barrow and her fiancee Joel who are getting married on Labor Day weekend.
Is there anyone left who doesn't know that Jodi graduated in December and that Jay and Bob graduated in May? Again, I'll let them post their own details if they want to.
That's about all I can think of now, but I sure hope this blog will be interactive, with YOU adding your own news as you can.
I can't wait to see who reads this and posts something!

I love the blog, but it's Treo.
That's true, Brad. Also, Kelly Barrow has a fiance, not a fiancee! LOL
Great idea mama. P.S. Heading to the beach again next weekend!! So now that we all know how to spell Treo what the heck is it. Also I am taking Biology this semester so anyone that can help with that feel free!!
Nice idea.. The girls were sent off to school this morning (Amen!). It has been difficult to get any work done these past few weeks with them at home.
Both of them are starting new schools this year. Holly moved to the high school. She was up bright and early this morning worried about riding the bus... She hasn't rode the bus in almost four years. She made it on and texted me about the ride and seemed in good spirits. Yesterday was her big debut as a high school cheerleader. The squad performed at freshman orientation. Tomorrow is the first game.
Hilary moved from private to public school. She didn't seem a bit nervous about the move. She complained as well about riding the bus. However, in the end she did not ride because the bus never showed up! Now I recall why Holly stopped riding the bus. :) Her teacher, Mrs. Knox was also Holly's 5th grade teacher. She was also up bright and early taking a shower, fixing her hair and choosing her clothes (no more uniforms).
Rob is busy this week. They are changing commanders tomorrow and he is setting up the Honor Guard portion of the ceremony.
I am going to play "catch up" on work today and tomorrow and then prepare to monitor in New Bern next week.
Brad-Rob recommended that you contact your phone dealer for information on set up.
Awesome blog!great idea
I think this is a GREAT idea! My first official day (Friday) went well, but I had started Wed. with workshops..and all I can say is I LOVE HENDERSON COUNTY! I mean..I won a $50 Walmart gift card on my first day!! YIPPEE!!
Jay is staying with the kids this week and then starts his new job (on the 27th) with a friend of ours Brett Parrish - He owns a company called Nature's Way - Jay will be a Crew Leader/type position, using all the stuff he went to school for...he's very excited!
Justice starts kindergarten in 10 days! he can't wait!!! He already knows that he has a few friends in his class and his principal is the assistant that I worked with at the high school for years, so he is REALLY excited...just needs to practice calling him MR. Bailey instead of Mike..LOL
Savannah will be going to a 5 star (thanks Jen) home daycare right by my new school - but someone must have told her - because she has cried the last 2 times I dropped her off in the nursery at church..LOL
Shannon--Which daycare did you end up choosing?
She's at Laurie's Child Care in East Flat Rock - it's a 5 star home day care, it's less than 2 miles from my school. I really like her and the other kids there (most are related somehow) and there is a little boy Savannah age...I'm really happy. I was REALLY freaked out about home daycares at first - but all the centers (that I would have put her in...LOL) were full. But I am really glad she's there now - it's just like being at home - she can run around the living room barefoot if she wants, etc...
