The Reader

We just saw The Reader...another really good movie. Kate Winslet was phenomenal, indeed, and deserves to have won the Academy Award; though I do think that Angelina Jolie was at least her equal in Changeling.

Guess we'd better prepare for the snow, though there really isn't much to do for that. The cupboards are full (for a change). I'm good to go, though this week is our Spring Break...fine with me if it snows...I just hope we don't lose power. That would make it not fine with me.

Great-Grand is having back surgery on March 19, and Shannon is having gall bladder surgery on March 13. I'm sure both of them would love to hear from folks...it's always nice to have support when you're going through something like that!

I agree. This is a wonderful movie. Rob and I went to see it for our Valentine's date. Kate Winslet sounded very "German" in the film.

The first few scenes were a bit of an eye opener. We were in a theater with a bunch of old people. We went during a week day. We both looked at each other and thought, "what in the world did we come to see?" After the story moved along, it was excellent!

I was VERY uncomfortable during the first few scenes...I guess we were some of the "old people" that were there. I had tried before to read the book but was also VERY uncomfortable with the beginning chapters and never even read far enough to get the story.
