Dixie's surgery went as expected yesterday, and she is proving to be a trooper! She was up and walking within an hour after the surgery. We brought her home last night; and while she is still trying to orient herself, she is getting along pretty well. She is on pain medication and antibiotics, and she finally figured out how to squat to pee. She is drinking lots of water and has eaten a little bit without incident.
We are hunkered down with her...rainy days are good for recuperating, I guess. The bandages come off on Monday. There was a lot of shaving in various places. I anticipate that her appearance will be harder to get used to when the bandages are off. Right now, about all you see IS the bandage and wrap. She gets her stitches out in two weeks, and her meds will be done then too.
