Congratulations to Holly!

Congratulations to Holly upon her acceptance to East Carolina University! Starting in the summer semester, Holly will be a "Pirate" majoring in ELEMENTARY EDUCATION! Holly, we are very proud of you...always have been...and very excited for you as you take on this new academic and career path! ARRRGGGHHH! And welcome to what some of us consider a very noble profession!

We returned last night from Wellsboro, having helped Grandma Brocious celebrate her 80th birthday. Jen, Bob, and I were able to visit with the following members of our family: Grandma Brocious,Ellis, Gail, Carrie, Nick, Charlotte, Angelo, Chris, Eva, Noah, Wyett, Maizzee, Lori, Mark, John, Grandpa Carpenter (who is in The Green Home, after a fall last week), Grandma Carpenter, and Linda. I think I got them all. Then Bob and Jen were able to visit with Sandy, Mark, Michelle and Tim, Cassandra and Johnnie, and Mitchell.

We were so happy that Jennifer could make the trip with us...and so thankful that she was able to tolerate our snoring...though I do think she didn't get much sleep.

For those of you who don't know, Grandma Brocious will be facing surgery in the next few weeks. She is scheduled for a pre-op appointment tomorrow, but we're not sure how the effects of Hurrican Sandy might influence that appointment and her subsequent surgery. I'll try to keep you posted on that. We haven't heard anything today from the Wellsboro folks, so I'm guessing they might have lost power. I will update the blog when we hear from them.

Jill and Bryan are welcoming members of their family to our area. Bryan's son, Ory, and his family are moving here within the week. We hope they enjoy their home in Raleigh, North Carolina!

I'm pretty tied up with lots of work in my new job. So far I really like it, but I do work 20 hours a week; so if I don't answer the phone or your text messages right away, it might be because I'm "on the clock." My work is time-stamped, something like punching a time clock on the computer.

Our next trip is planned for November 9 and 10. We plan to pick up Grand and Papa in Greensboro and head to the mountains for a couple of nights. We'll be staying in Hendersonville and hope to have a family gathering with all who can attend at a restaurant in Asheville. There we will be celebr!ating birthdays for GRAND, PAPA, AND JAY!

Would love for more people to post on the blog if you get a chance. Kelly, sure do appreciate your helping me keep the blog alive.

C'mon and join in, EVERYBODY!

I misunderstood... Holly is accepted to ECU. However, she will not find out if she is accepted to the Elem. Ed program until January.
