Personal Update

Well, I suppose that this is as good a place as any to update everyone on what is going on with me.  As many of you know, I have moved to Cumberland County.  I live in Spring Lake with two roommates, Susan and Bill.  Things are going really well here for the most part.  It is a longer commute to work, but I am learning to use that time for preparing and decompressing for my days.

I am teaching at Coats-Erwin Middle School.  I absolutely love teaching.  I say frequently that I must be lucky because I have such great students.  I am learning everyday better methods for serving them.  Building relationships with them has been easy, figuring out the best methods for teaching them has been a growing process.  I have found my place in the classroom, and I am learning to fit into the culture of my school.  It has been a huge help that this is not my first year in the school.  I am on a new hall, and I am finding my place in the new group.

I have been battling an ailment since the first day of school; this week starts week 7....  It has been determined that I have allergies.  I have never struggled with allergies before, so everything has been a learning process.  Lots of medicines, lots of headaches, lots of coughing, and lots of trying to figure out the best mixture of medicines.  I think that I am slowly but surely getting better, and I am planning on seeing a primary care doctor to figure out exactly where to go from here.
